Officials check smoke reports in Jefferson County, Waterton Canyon closed

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tweeted Monday that a new fire started west of Little Scraggy Trailhead on the Colorado Trail.

North Fork Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service responded to fight the blaze.

There was at least one other fire reported near Strontia Springs Reservoir on the Jefferson County and Douglas County line.
