DENVER — The annual Bike to Work Day takes place Wednesday in Denver and surrounding cities.

The double-ended celebration offers before- and after-work options for two-wheeled commuters.

On your way to work, breakfast options abound between 6:30 and 9:00 a.m. with nearly 40 businesses offering morning meals. Bike in and fuel up for free.

The fun continues  at the end of the day with a few other events worth noting:

The 5th Annual Cactus Bike Form Work Bash takes place at 2128 15th St. This year Primal has produced a commemorative t-shirt and bike jersey which can be pre-ordered. Continuing a tradition, Boulder Beer will yet again offer free suds.

If you’ve attended in the past, long lines are the norm, and the free kegs will eventually get tapped out. This year you can support BikeDenver by purchasing a Bike From Work Bash Beer Mug. All proceeds help fund BikeDenver and mug holders can avoid lines and sample a wider variety of fermented love from Boulder Beer.

Another Bike Home event for those who want an after-work brew takes place at the Denver Beer Company. Both of these events run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The health benefits to cycling are numerous, experts say. Of course it will strengthen your heart and muscles. Maintaining a fit waistline becomes easier and it can also help strengthen your immune system. Conventional wisdom says cycling can increase your lifespan.
