DENVER — Tornado warnings and severe thunderstorms targeted the plains of eastern and southeastern Colorado Monday afternoon.

The storms brought heavy rain and powerful, damaging winds in some cases.

Aaron Eveatt, fire chief in La Junta, posted pictures of a tornado, as well as damage in La Junta.

Heavy rain left flooding in Lamar.

The storms Monday never really materialized in metro Denver, and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that included extreme eastern metro Denver was canceled Monday night.

Temperatures were forecast to stay in the 80s again on Tuesday before the 90s return for a stretch of hot, dry weather beginning Wednesday.
