COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two suspects are in custody following a smoke-filled bank robbery.

Colorado Springs police have charged Casey Fernau, 28, and Emma Lasek, 22, with multiple crimes, including the May 10 robbery of a KeyBank. The perpetrators allegedly set off a smoke grenade near the intersection of Woodmen Road and Lexington Drive. Within moments, the nearby bank was robbed.

Additional charges the inventive thieves face stem from a slew of activity on June 2. Police claim the pair failed in their first attempt to rob one TCF bank, then succeeded at a different branch, and later stole a motorcycle. The charges also include an armed carjacking on May 10.

Both are being held on $500,000 bond.
