PARKER, Colo. -- Despite a beautiful clear day in Parker, the Frederickson family is left with thousands of dollars worth of damage from a wind storm on Thursday.

The gust of wind, which occurred around 3:00 p.m., left the family with a damaged roof and a Ford F350 truck likely beyond repair.

"There's not a lot whole lot you can do, you don't mess with mother nature...nobody got hurt...that's the main thing," said Randal Frederickson outside of his home.

Adding insult to injury, the damage comes on the same day the Iowa native was to be celebrating his 58th birthday.

The damaged roof did not cause any damage to the inside of the property and a tarp was up covering the missing roof within hours.
