MORRISON, Colo. — New York prep-rockers Vampire Weekend swooped back into Colorado Monday night for a sold-out show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

The foursome’s chirpy East Coast band of alt rock played well during their second-ever concert at the legendary venue. Singer Ezra Koenig seemed to have toned down his goofy, ironic performance style a bit since the last tour, giving the crowd a chance to remember just how hard the band can rock when they put their minds to it.

Earlier, Icelandic folk-rock band Of Monsters and Men drew a raucous response with their mild-mannered version of arena rock. Perhaps the most enjoyable moment came when singer-guitarist Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir, who comes from a fishing village in southern Iceland, noted how chilly it was at Red Rocks for a May evening.
