AURORA, Colo. — A woman was killed when a car collided with a motorcycle in Aurora on Saturday afternoon.

The female passenger was riding on the back of the motorcycle when it was hit by a car at East 6th Ave. and Del Mar Circle at approximately 12:40 p.m.

Police said the car was turning southbound onto Del Mar Circle and the motorcycle was heading eastbound in the right through lane of E. 6th Ave., when the driver of the motorcycle locked the front brake, causing the bike to flip and hit the car.

Investigators believe the traffic signals for both drivers were either yellow, or had just turned red when the car turned south and the motorcycle continued going east.

The woman riding on the back of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The male driver remains in critical condition.

Police said that the man driving the car was uninjured, and remained at the scene of the accident.

Alcohol and speeding are not suspected as factors in the crash. Aurora police continue to investigate the accident and are interviewing a number of witnesses who stopped to help the victims.
