Former Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow

DENVER — Former Denver Broncos and New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow officially became a free agent at 2 p.m. MDT Thursday.

No team picked him up off the waiver wire after the New York Jets released him several days ago.

Many teams have said they don’t have any interest in signing Tebow. One that hasn’t said anything is the Miami Dolphins.

A story on ProFootballTalk.com says Tebow probably wouldn’t help the Miami much from a football standpoint, but the Dolphins should seriously consider bringing him on board for the other reasons that accompany Tim Tebow.

“Tebow sells tickets. More immediately, he could motivate Tebowmaniacs to get to the polls on May 13 to vote in favor of a proposal that would contribute significant public money to the effort to renovate Sun Life Stadium,” PFT says.

The Dolphins say they’re not going to discuss personnel decisions publicly.
