DENVER -- Police say they were searching for two shooting suspects in the area of W. 6th Ave. and Federal Blvd. Monday night who were wanted for shooting an 8-year-old boy while he rode in the back seat of his parents' SUV.

Police say the bullet passed through the back of a Jeep and hit the little boy, who investigators say was shot in the back.

Police say he went to the hospital in critical condition, although he was moving and talking prior to leaving the scene.

Police say that at first, the parents did not realize what happened. They believe the shooting took place near 7th and Knox, but the boy's parents drove to 5th and Federal where they realized what happened. They pulled into a 7-Eleven parking lot and got help.

There was no description of the suspects other than they may have been Hispanic males possibly driving a white Volvo.
