CASTLE ROCK, Colo. -- A Castle Rock family that has gone through unimaginable tragedies is now helping another family in their time of need. They are opening up their barn for a special fundraiser.
It is the second Barn Boutique for Curtis and Emily Graves. They found one another after both experienced heartbreaking losses of their spouses and children in separate car accidents.
Emily said, “This is our second event, my husband and I have been through some tragedies ourselves. When we went through that, we were completely embraced by the communities we lived in and that made such a difference. We’re in a good place now, we just felt it was our turn to give back. We created the barn boutique as a way to raise money for other families going through tough times.”
They have 62 vendors with everything from handmade arts and crafts to jewelry and bags, home decorations, food and lots of activities for the kids.
Last year, they raised thousands of dollars for a Castle Rock family that lost their home in a fire. This year, the Claverie family will benefit from this fundraiser.
Presley Claverie is just 3 years old.
She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia two months ago. Her mother, Alysa said, “We’ve seen a lot of things that ... it’s hard for your heart to see and hear. The hardest thing is just seeing your child go through pain and suffering.”
They are facing mounting medical bills which could end up totaling more than $1 million.
They couldn’t be more grateful for the support of the community. Alysa said, “People have reached out in so many ways ... it’s just ... people are amazing. You don’t know how to say thank you. You don’t know how you’re ever going to thank them for what they’ve done. Emily has been my strength through all of this ... knowing the hard thing she’s gone through, that I can do it to.”
The Barn Boutique will be held Saturday, April 27th from 10am-4pm at 3333 Lake Gulch Road in Castle Rock.
