A fugitive wanted by Illinois authorities was captured Tuesday in Jefferson County.

Malcolm Frenzel is wanted for attempted homicide of Illinois State Police. Reports say he tried to run over several officers.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Mark Techmeyer says deputies were asked to contact Frenzel at a residence in south Jefferson County.

They went to the home and took him into custody without incident.

He was taken to the Jefferson County jail where he’s waiting for extradition back to Illinois.
