DENVER — The man accused of attacking a 15-year-old girl in her apartment last week appeared in court Friday morning, where he was advised of the charges he now faces.

Xavier Sebastian McDaniel, 20, is being charged with second degree kidnapping, two counts of first degree burglary two counts of criminal attempted sexual assault and four aggravating counts that could enhance his sentencing.

McDaniel allegedly broke into an apartment near South Simms Street and West Bowles Avenue in Littleton on April 4, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. He then walked into the apartment the 15-year-old victim shares with her mother and ordered the girl to take off her shirt.

When she refused, McDaniel got angry and began shouting profanities, the victim said.

“Get ready to die,” he allegedly said at one point.

McDaniel allegedly attempted to sexually assault the girl, but she fought with him for several minutes, at which point the suspect eventually gave up and left. When officers arrived after the incident, the victim was crying hysterically and police noticed “visible injuries to her mouth, face and neck.”

The victim gave police a description of her attacker and said she saw him driving away in a white 1990s Jeep Cherokee. This information led police to McDaniel, who lives in the same apartment complex where the crime occurred. A police sketch of the attacker closely resembles McDaniel.

McDaniel was arrested at his place of work in Douglas County, police said. He also has a pending misdemeanor case against him for sexual contact with no consent and harassment that was set to appear in court for on Wednesday.
