2013CollegeFridaylogoFinalDENVER — Gov. John Hickenlooper has declared this Friday to be College Friday, a day where alumni and students can celebrate higher education.

To celebrate, Coloradans are urged to wear gear from their favorite college or university.

Several businesses are getting involved as well offering free deals this Friday for anyone wearing college gear.

Area Carl’s Jr. restaurants will offer free fries at lunch or dinner and Cold Stone Creamery’s will offer a free “Like It” size ice cream from 3 to 7 p.m.

Colorado State University is also waving application fees for College Week, which runs April 7 through 17.

College in Colorado, an initiative of the Department of Education, sponsors the celebration.
