DENVER — Bad news Nuggets fans.

Denver Forward Danilo Gallinari is out for the rest of the season with a torn left anterior cruciate ligament.

Gallinari made the announcement on his Facebook page and the team confirmed it.

Many expected the bad news after watching Gallo turn his knee awkwardly and carried off the court Thursday night during the second quarter at home against the Mavericks. The results were confirmed after an MRI.

It’s another huge blow to the team now that the Nuggets top two scorers are out with injuries. Ty Lawson is dealing with a heel injury, but is expected back by the start of the playoffs.

Gallinari is Denver’s second-leading scorer averaging 16.2 points a game.

“We’re extremely disappointed for Gallo,” said Nuggets executive VP of basketball operations Masai Ujiri. “He was a huge reason for our success.”

The Nuggets also say prognosis for a full recovery is excellent.

The Nuggets do have a depth on their bench and reserve forward Wilson Chandler will likely step in and get the start.

Denver will host the Houston Rockets Saturday.
