DENVER — A suicidal man leapt from a freeway overpass early Monday, prompting a police investigation that closed parts of C-470 and E-470 for nearly three hours.

Lone Tree Police were dispatched about 3:30 a.m. to assist the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in looking for the suicidal man, Lone Tree Community Outreach Coordinator Kristen Knoll said. About 4:30 a.m., police found his white Subaru abandoned on the westbound C-470 flyover from northbound I-25.

Officers investigated and discovered the subject’s body lying below in the westbound lanes of C-470.  Police shut down the flyover and both lanes of C-470 underneath the flyover.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.

The roadway was reopened about 7:15 am. Detectives are asking any witnesses to call the Lone Tree Police Department at 303-339-8150.
