DENVER — A jury found a man guilty Wednesday in the hit-and-run death of a University of Denver student.

Andrew Simpson, 46, was convicted of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Masoud Bahramisharif was riding his bike across the intersection of E. Evans Ave. and S. University Blvd. the evening of May 31, 2012, when Simpson failed to stop for a red light.

The DU student died. His bicycle was found several blocks away.

Police found the suspect vehicle four days later in a parking lot outside an apartment building. They arrested Simpson inside one of the apartments.

Simpson faces up to 18 years in prison when he appears for sentencing March 28 in Denver District Court.
