Woman dies after shooting in Aurora

AURORA, Colo. – Police are investigating a shooting that left one woman dead Friday night.

Just after 11 p.m., officers arrived at the 2300 block of Emporia Street and found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The woman was rushed to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Police identified a man who they said is a possible suspect inside a residence a few houses away. Officers surrounded the house, and arrested the man after brief standoff.

Neighbor Mayra Lazos told FOX 31 Denver's Greg Nieto that the victim had just moved in to the neighborhood.

Police believe the suspect and the victim knew each other, but their exact relationship is unclear. Officers are not looking for any other suspects.

A tow truck removed two vehicles near the murder scene Saturday afternoon.

Authorities did not release the identities of the suspect or the victim.
