I-25 and Santa Fe in Denver. Dec. 12, 2012

DENVER — Northbound I-25 closed Wednesday night at Santa Fe Drive in central Denver and will remain closed until 5:30 a.m. Thursday for striping operations. The new flyover ramp from northbound Santa Fe to northbound I-25 will also be closed.

The Colorado Department of Transportation warns drivers there will be major delays and they should plan on taking alternate routes.

“Last Saturday, we were able to open the new flyover ramp from northbound Santa Fe Drive to northbound I-25 before the snow and cold weather settled in,” said CDOT Project Engineer Dan Housand. “With temperatures finally above freezing tonight, we can complete the striping on northbound I-25 that will allow for a continuous merge lane up to 6th Avenue.”

By Thursday morning, there will be three through lanes on northbound I-25 and one continuous merge lane for traffic entering northbound I-25 from northbound Santa Fe Drive.
