BEREA, Ohio – A Cleveland Browns employee was reportedly found dead at the team’s practice facility Saturday.

According to, a Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner spokesman said that a team employee was found dead of apparent hanging in a maintenance shed.

The Browns later confirmed on Sunday that it was assistant groundskeeper Eric Eucker who had died.

“This is a terrible tragedy, and our heartfelt condolences go out to Eric’s family,” the Browns said in a statement.  “Eric was a good friend and colleague, and an outstanding employee. He will be missed by everyone in the Cleveland Browns organization.”

The Browns employee was found dead the same day Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher committed suicide at Arrowhead stadium after killing his girlfriend.

The Browns are in Oakland where they will play the Raiders this weekend.
