Report: Denver considering 2018 Super Bowl bid
DENVER – The Denver Broncos and the city’s visitors bureau have submitted a bid to the NFL for Denver to host a Super Bowl.
According to the Denver Post, the Broncos and Visit Denver submitted an application to the NFL Super Bowl Advisory Committee to host the Super Bowl in 2018, 2019 or 2020.
Minneapolis, New Orleans and Indianapolis have already said they are vying for the 2018 spot. The NFL will make a decision at the owners meeting in May 2014.
One problem for the Mile High City to hold a Super Bowl at Sports Authority at Mile High Field would be the potential for a February winter snow storm that could spoil one of the most watched sporting events in the world.
New Jersey is hosting the 2014 Super Bowl – the first major test of an outdoor Super Bowl in a cold-weather city.
Mayor Michael Hancock told the Post that if the New Jersey game goes off without a hitch, it would help Denver’s chances.AlertMe
