DENVER — You may or may not be able to avoid them, but a new study citing a slew of government-sanctioned and well-regarded independent data is seeking to inform you of the 25 worst airports you might end up stuck in this holiday season.

For those of you traveling in or out of the Mile High City, beware: Denver International Airport is No. 11 on the list.

The study is performed annually by the Daily Beast, and takes into account five different pieces of data. They are as follows:

  • Busiest airports (data from Airports Council International)
  • On-time performance for arrivals and departures for 2012 (data from U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics)
  • On-time performance for arrivals and departures during the most recent busy travel holidays (data from U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics)
  • Most recent airport comfort and amenities study (data from JD Power and Associates)
  • Median, maximum security wait time during peak periods (data from Flight Explorer)

According to the study, DIA was tied with McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas for highest maximum security wait ties (33 minutes) of the 25 ranked airports.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, however, DIA ranked third among the 25 for best airport comfort in amenities. According to the presented data, DIA is the 14th best airport in the country in that category, falling behind only Sacramento International Airport (8th) and Baltimore/Washington International Airport (11th).

When it came to the rest of the categories, DIA was in the middle of the pack, averaging between 80 to 85 percent of its flights arriving and departing on time during the majority of the year in addition to the holiday season.

Below are the only 10 airports in the country to finish worse than DIA in the study. For the Daily Beast’s list of all of the 25 worst airports in the country, click here.
