DENVER — Prosecutors have decided to charge a rental car bus driver who police said hit and killed a woman at Denver International Airport last month.

Yakov Rakhshtut faces a single charge of careless driving resulting in death, said Denver District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough.

Rakhshtut is accused of hitting Katherine McKinley, 57, as she was walking in the crosswalk on Level 5 of the parking garage on October 13.

McKinley was rushed to the hospital after she was hit and later died. The Coroner’s office said she died of a brain injury as a result of being hit by the bus.

Rakhshtut is scheduled to appear in Denver County court on November 20 to be arraigned.
