Annual chili cook-off benefits Colo. wildfire victims
DENVER – Chili-lovers gathered for a cook-off Sunday to benefit victims of this year’s Colorado wildfires.
The Hatch Foundation held its 7th Annual Meanest Chili Cook-off at Denver’s Oriental Theater to benefit The Colorado Fire Relief Fund 2012.
The event, which was supported by the Denver Foundation, started at 10:30 a.m., and welcomed attendees to taste chili from different competitors and vote for the one that pleased their taste buds most, all while watching the Denver Broncos defeat the Cincinnati Bengals on a theater-sized screen.
The Governor’s Office created the Colorado Relief Fund 2012 in partnership with the Denver Foundation and other foundations across the state. The organization collects donations of $1,000 or more, and distributes the money for intermediate-term needs resulting from wildfires across Colorado.
The Hatch Foundation is a local non-profit that helps provide opportunities for families and children in need. The foundation aims to provide community enrichment through the arts, and improve the standard of living for people locally and internationally.
