Air Force Academy cadet found dead on campus

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — An Air Force Academy cadet  died on campus Friday.

Personnel found the cadet unconscious Friday morning. The cadet was taken to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs where doctors pronounced the cadet dead.

The name is being withheld while the Department of Defense notifies next of kin.

“The Academy family is deeply saddened by the death of one of our own.  Our heart-felt condolences go out to the family and friends of our cadet,” said Lt. Gen. Mike Gould, Superintendent of the Air Force Academy. “Our Air Force family is grieving this loss, and we are committed to helping the family through this extremely difficult time.”

The cause of death is under investigation.
