Amanda Bynes has car impounded, denies reports on poor mental state
(CNN) — After several vehicle-related charges, actress Amanda Bynes has lost her wheels.
Bynes’ car was impounded outside Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, CA. Airport police said she was pulled over near the airport’s main entrance Sunday morning.
An officer cited the 26-year-old for driving on a suspended license and impounded her car. She was not arrested or detained.
The former child star lost her driving privileges last month after a DUI arrest, which came after Bynes ran into a police cruiser. She was also accused of two alleged hit-and-runs earlier this year.
Bynes asked President Barack Obama to fire her arresting officer in the DUI case via Twitter.
“Hey @BarackObama,” she wrote on June 5. “I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don’t hit and run. The end.”
While not disputing the former child star’s claim that she does drink, friends told TMZ she does smoke marijuana in the car. They’ve also told TMZ they’re worried about the former child star’s mental state.
Those friends say they’re reaching out because they want to help Bynes. But the actress continues to insist “everything’s fine” and that the stories about her mental state “are being blown way out of proportion.”
She also told TMZ that the picture the website posted of her smoking from a drug pipe inside her car is not what it seems. She said she was smoking tobacco despite the fact that photographers on the scene reported her cup-holders had remnants of what appeared to be marijuana.
TMZ reported speaking we spoke with several people who have witnessed Byne’s behavior recently. They told reporters the actress is talking to inanimate objects, and they fear she may be suffering from serious mental issues.
The 26-year-old is best known for her role in the WB’s “What I Like About You” and the film “Easy A.”
