BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. – A 28-year-old male climber was killed Sunday afternoon after falling off the rocks near Boulder Canyon Road.

Witnesses described seeing the victim fall about 100 feet while trying to help a female climber nearby.

"You just have to be weary of what you're doing you have to help somebody, he was probably not thinking of himself as much as the other person" added one climber.

The incident closed part of Boulder Canyon Road for several hours. Boulder deputies opened the eastbound lanes of the road shortly after 5pm.

Friends say the victim, whose identity has not been released, was part of the Longmont Church of Christ climbing group.

A second climber was airlifted after breaking both legs in a 30-foot fall in Dream Canyon. The 50-year-old victim has not been identified.
