AURORA, Colo. — An off-ramp in Aurora was briefly closed Wednesday morning after a police officer’s motorcycle was smashed and pinned between two cars.

According to Aurora Police spokesman Chuck Deshazer, the officer was off duty and en route to work when the accident occurred on the northbound off-ramp to Colfax Avenue off I-225.

“The officer was stopped in traffic and a female driver rear ended him,” Deshazer said. “She was ticketed for careless driving.”

The officer’s motorcycle was pinned between the woman’s sedan and an SUV. SkyFOX showed images of emergency crews loading the injured officer into an ambulance, but Deshazer said his injuries were minor.

Police crews were investigating the accident and had the off-ramp completed closed as of 6:30 a.m., but traffic was back up and running through the off-ramp shortly after that.
