Standoff at Ramada Inn in Wheat Ridge, Colo. Aug. 28, 2012

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. — A standoff at the Ramada Inn in Wheat Ridge ended after several hours when police shot the suspect.

The suspect barricaded himself in a room in the motel at 47th Ave. and Kipling St. at about 1 p.m. Tuesday according to Wheat Ridge police spokeswoman Lisa Stigall.

50-60 people were evacuated from the property.

She says officers saw that the suspect had a gun.

SWAT members moved on the suspect late Tuesday night. Reports say the man pointed a gun at them and they shot him.

There was no word on his condition.

Reports from the scene indicated the man was wanted on a number of charges that included identity theft and illegal financial transaction.
