9-year-old Pueblo girl impaled on bicycle

PUEBLO WEST, Colo. — A 9-year-old girl was impaled on her bicycle in Pueblo on Tuesday night.

Despite the injury, the girl was still able to compose herself and ride to a nearby convenience store for help, according to KRDO-TV.

It was not apparent how the accident happened, but reports state the girl fell between the bike’s handlebars and was impaled on the bicycle stem (pictured at the top right of this story), which thrust into her chest

After making it to the convenience store, the girl was rushed to a local hospital and then flown to Children’s Hospital in Denver. The extent of her injuries and her condition were unknown as of Wednesday morning.
