Lakewood biker dies in early morning accident

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Police are investigating an accident that resulted in the death of a biker early Thursday morning.

At approximately 1 a.m., Lakewood police responded to an auto vs. bicyclist accident on South Sheridan Boulevard in the 1300 block. When they arrived on scene, Frank Segura, 28, was found lying in the street. He was transported to a local hospital where was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses told police Segura was lying on the roadway before he was hit. One southbound vehicle was able to avoid him. But when that vehicle was turning around in an attempt to assist Segura, a second southbound vehicle struck both Segura and his bike.

Lakewood Police Detectives, who are investigating the incident, do not suspect alcohol or drugs were involved on the part of the driver.
