DENVER -- Plastic surgeons have all sorts of ways to make you look younger these days. But they're refining one of the most popular procedures ever, the eye lift.

Doctors are now able to get rid of those bags and lines during a 45-minute procedure that can be done in an on-site surgical suite or in the hospital.

Recovery time involves taking about a week off of work.

Patients are likely to experience some bruising for awhile but after that the eye area takes on a younger softer look.

Denver resident Maggie Stevens says the surgery changed her outlook on life by creating a look that is subtle and natural and adds, “I didn't want to look like I'd had something done I wanted to look natural.”

Maggie’s surgery was performed by Dr. Michael  McCraken of the McCraken Eye and Face Institute in Parker.

these days, most surgeons have a more progressive philosophy when it comes to cosmetic procedures.

Dr. McCraken says, “We're trying to give  more of a natural appearance by being very careful not to take out too much tissue and really preserve the patient's younger look.”

Patients with severe health problems  are not good candidates for eye  lift surgery.

The cost starts at $2,500 for just the lower or upper lids and can cost as much as $5,000 for an entire lid rejuvenation.
