COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police arrested a man they say was pretending to be a firefighter at the Waldo Canyon Fire.

Kip Andy Petersen, 53, was arrested Thursday, June 28. The officers who arrested him were helping evacuate the Rockrimmon neighborhood.

Petersen posted bail and was released from jail.

He’s the second alleged fake firefighter this season in Colorado. Michael Maher is accused of impersonating a firefighter at the High Park Fire last month in Larimer County.
