AURORA -- Heavy smoke and flames billowed from an Aurora area apartment and crews were still on the scene Monday morning.

According to Capt. Allen Robnett of the Aurora Fire Department, the fire was reported around 10:49 p.m. Sunday night at the Huntington Ridge apartments on 9937 E. Louisiana Dr.

The flames were reportedly coming from a second story unit, and the fire burned through the attic before being contained by midnight.

"When crews arrived they found heavy flames," Robnett said. "They started an offensive attack then moved to a defensive attack and were able to get things under control."

No injuries have been reported and the cause is under investigation.
