ERIE — An instructor and a student were on board when a plane went down Thursday morning at the corner of Cessna Dr. and Beech Ct. in Erie. Only minor injuries have been reported.

The crash took place shortly after takeoff and the plane, tail number N617EV, may have made contact with a house on its way down, according to a press release from the Mountain View Fire Rescue Office.

“Skid marks from the plane were evident on a driveway a few yards from where the plane came to rest,” the release stated.

The cause of the incident is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board. KDVR photojournalist Dan Gillett reported both the instructor and student, whose names have not been released, walked away from the crash — the student with possible minor rib injuries.
