DENVER – Former Broncos linebacker Nate Webster, 34, was sentenced Wednesday to 12 years in prison for having sex with the underage daughter of a former assistant coach with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Webster was convicted in April on four counts of unlawful sex conduct with a minor.

Prosecutors said Webster had sex with the girl in 2009 when she was only 15 years old.

Webster admitted to having sex with her a year later when she was 16, which is the legal age of consent in Ohio, according to the Denver Post.

Webster’s attorney, Gregory Samms, said he plans to appeal the verdict and sentence.

Webster played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2000-2003 and for the Bengals in 2004-2005. He finished his career with the Denver Broncos from 2006-2008.
