WESTMINSTER, Colo. – Strong wind gusts are being blamed for capsizing a dragon boat at Standley Lake Saturday afternoon, throwing approximately 20 people into the water.

The boat flipped about 100 yards from the shoreline just before 2 p.m.

All of the passengers were wearing lifejackets at the time of the incident, a fact that likely saved lives, according to Westminster Fire spokeswoman Diana Allen.

Allen tells FOX31 Denver it took three trips and around 15 to 20 minutes to get everyone out of the water.
