DENVER – Smart Balance announced Friday that it has signed an agreement to acquire Udi’s Healthy Free Foods for $125 million.

Smart Balance is a New Jersey-based company focused on healthy living and eating. Chairman of the company, Stephen Hughes, says that acquiring Udi’s will enable them to offer “the most comprehensive portfolio of gluten-free products,” according to the Denver Post.

Chief Executive of Udi’s tells the Denver Post he sees the combining of the companies as an outstanding opportunity for Udi’s to continue its growth.

Udi’s sales in the past year were around $60.9 million.
