FRISCO, Colo. — A  chemical spill closed a stretch of eastbound I-70 from Vail to Silverthorne Wednesday.

The Colorado State Patrol says there was no crash, just a chemical leaked onto the road possibly from a semi. Information about the type of chemical was not released.

The closure began shortly after 10 a.m. and remained in place into the afternoon. The Colorado Department of Transportation did not give an estimated time of when the highway would reopen.

Westbound I-70 was open during the incident, and eastbound lanes reopened later in the afternoon.
