Welcome home ceremonies set for 500 Fort Carson soldiers

FORT CARSON, Colo. — Nearly 500 soldiers will be welcomed home during a ceremonies at Fort Carson Tuesday.

The 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division deployed in Afghanistan one year ago.

“The ‘Warhorse’ brigade partnered with Afghan Uniformed Police, Afghan Local Police, Afghan National Army and district-level government officials to defeat the insurgency by expanding security, building governmental capability and capacity and communicating Afghan progress to the Afghan people,” a statement from Fort Carson says.

The first welcome home ceremony will happen at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday at the Fort Carson Special Events Center for about 200 soldiers.

Another ceremony will be held for 300 soldiers at about 7:45 Tuesday night.
