DENVER — A 9-year-old boy is in critical condition after being hit by an SUV while playing with a friend Tuesday evening.

The accident happened just after 8 p.m. in the 4500 block of Kentucky Avenue.

A woman says the boy was playing with her children right before he crossed the street to go home and was hit.

“He just looked really, really bad,” said the woman who did not want to be identified. “He was bleeding everywhere and there were all kinds of people all over and I couldn’t help him out. [I was] telling the 911 people, please tell me what to do to help this kid. Do I give him CPR or what do I do for him?”

The woman says the driver stopped about a hundred feet down the street.

She says many drivers speed down the road even though it’s a 25 mile-per-hour zone and she says another child was hit a little more than a year ago.

It’s unclear if the driver in this incident was speeding.

Police say no charges have been filed and the driver was eventually allowed to go home.
