Fundraiser Saturday for family of little boy killed by his father

DENVER — Friends of a family that is coping with a man killing his young son, and then committing suicide have set up a fund to help the Boy’s mother during this difficult time.

Damion Morine, 40, killed his son Toby before taking his own life earlier this month.

Police found the two bodies at 139 S. Bryant St. in Denver.

Morine had divorced his wife, Valerie Tafoya, about two years ago and moved into a home nearly across the street at 112 S. Bryant late last year.

A fundraising event is taking place Saturday at Noodles and Co. at Santa Fe Dr. and Hampden Ave. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 25-percent of all proceeds from customers who mention Toby Morine’s name will go to the fund set up for the family.
