ROGGEN, Colo. — A man from Commerce City was killed while working at a grain elevator in northern Colorado.

The Greeley Tribune reports Andres Ramirez, 28, died of multiple injuries in an accident at the Roggen Elevator near Keenesburg Wednesday.

The report says Ramirez was operating a tractor near a plastic cover that is used to store corn silage. When the silage is gone, they roll it up and store it for reuse. A spool system on the back of the tractor is used to roll it up.

“The victim was starting a roll of plastic onto the spool, and his arm apparently got caught in the spool, and it pulled him into the spool,” Weld County coroner’s office investigator Chris Robillard said.

He also said Ramirez was alone when he started the work. A second person arrived 15 minutes later and discovered what had happened.
