Betty White

(CNN) — You’re never too old to tweet.

“Hello Twitter!” Betty White posted on Tuesday. “And they said it would never happen. Oh wait, that was me.”

White used the social networking site to promote her new NBC show, Betty White’s Off Their Rockers,”but the Golden Girl doesn’t need the “Punk’d”-like hidden camera series to prove she’s a certified prankster.

Her “Hot in Cleveland” co-star Valerie Bertinelli can attest. She was one of the 90-year-old’s first victims:

“Just spoke with Betty and she is VERY upset! @BettyMWhite is NOT her. Don’t know how they got verified, but it is not Betty. Please RT!” the actress tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly after, Bertinelli clarified that the account is, in fact, legitimate, and that she had been pranked.

“It’s all a misunderstanding…@BettyMWhite IS Betty’s twitter account! Now follow me back, b–!”

“Betty White’s Off Their Rockers” airs tonight at 8 p.m., alongside Fox’s ratings juggernaut “American Idol.”

“Hey @RyanSeacrest – my new show airs tomorrow and I hear we’re in the same time slot. I’ve always dreamed of sharing a night with you…” White tweeted on Tuesday.
