LITTLETON, Colo. – Chatfield State Park opened for boating Friday.

“Due to early season conditions, boaters should keep a lookout for possible floating debris and always be aware that unmarked hazards may exist,” the Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in a statement. “If debris or hazards are discovered please notify park staff. Before boating, check that your vessel has all of the required safety items on board.

To prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species (ANS), including zebra and quagga mussels, all trailered vessels must be inspected prior to launch.

The North Boat Ramp will be open for launching, and ANS inspections are available between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily until April 1 when the south ramp will be open as well, with inspection available between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily. The inspection times at both ramps will change starting May 1 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
