Jennifer takes us to Vail to  ski the back bowls for the first time.

Vail’s Back Bowls are legendary.  There are seven of them extending seven miles.   Advanced and expert skiers flock to the back bowls.  But, even if you are a beginner to intermediate skier, you can ski the bowls. For your first experience go with an instructor or guide.  Jennifer went with guide Chris Lai to ski her first back bowl.  They skied Poppy Fields Run in China Bowl.  It’s the perfect run for a back bowl first-timer.

A big part of the back bowl experience is the adventure of getting there.  You take chairlifts and ski catwalks to there.  Once you ski a bowl or a few, you can easily get to Blue Sky Basin for amazing skiing and views of the back bowls.

Back bowls are perfect for families or groups with a variety of ski abilities.  There is something for every skier in the bowls from easier runs like Poppy Fields for the beginner to intermediate skiers to jumps and steeps for advanced to expert skiers.

Ski a back bowl for a wide-open ski experience.
