DENVER-- A week ago, a little white toy poodle was on the minds of everyone as images of the dog trying to swim to safety in an icy pond were beamed to TV screens throughout metro Denver. The pup fell through the ice into Berkley Lake on Denver’s west side.

“He didn’t have long to live,” said Tara Morse of Denver’s Animal Shelter. “The little guy was struggling so badly to get up on the ice while two rescue divers waded out to get him. We are just so glad he made it out. They got to him just in time.”

The little pup has been checked out at the shelter, and the staff says the friendly dog is ready for a quiet home without children or other pets.

The dog will be available to see Saturday beginning at noon at the shelter on W. Bayaud Street.

The dog needs shots and has to be neutered before he is released.
