2nd suspect identified in shoplifting, pepper spray cases

DENVER — Police have obtained an arrest warrant for the second of three suspects wanted in two metro area shoplifting cases where security guards were blasted with pepper spray.

Richard Slate, 27, is believed to be associated with a 2010 maroon or red Kia sedan with Florida license plate #Z7AJZ.

Investigators say Slate, Brittany Burton-Zamora, 28, and a third person stole items from a Denver Walmart on Jan. 8 and the Sheridan, Colo. Super Target on Jan. 10. In both cases, security guards confronted the suspects and were sprayed with pepper spray.

Burton-Zamora was arrested last week.

Slate is described as a white male, 6’5”- 6’7” in height, 160-180 lbs. with brown hair, hazel eyes and tattoos on both the right and left shoulders.
