‘Bullies’ shoot Northglenn boy, 11, with BB gun
NORTHGLENN, Colo. — Chandler Erickson, 11, was on his way home when two teens playing with guns ‘giggled,’ then pointed a BB gun at him and opened fire.
“I didn’t say anything to the boys,” Chandler told us. “They were dressed in black, wearing hoodies, and when I walked past them I heard them say they were going to shoot at the snow, but when I turned to look at them, they shot me and then ran away.”
“This is just terrible,” said Angela Erickson, Chandler’s mother. “You don’t know when you can ever just let your kids go down the block.”
His mom spotted blood on his shoulder and, after cleaning him up, she found something lodged below his skin. She rushed him to Urgent Care where doctors removed the BB pellet.
Chandler needed a couple of stitches to get patched up, but on Friday, Chandler was in good spirits. He just wonders why anyone would shoot him.
Chandler says he thinks the teens ‘shoved him around’ at a park a couple blocks from his home this summer, but other than that he has never seen the kids he is now calling ‘bullies.’
“A couple of inches higher and Chandler could have been really hurt,” said Northglenn Police Sgt. Rick Kellogg. “In fact, because of a bb-gun death a few years ago, the city banned bb-guns making it illegal to own or fire them in the city limits.”
Police are looking for the two teens and they are asking anyone with any information to call 911.AlertMe
