As a television host, Joana has represented Honda in their active woman campaign. Joana has had years of television news reporting experience in markets like San Diego, Tijuana, Salt Lake City and Denver. Her bilingual capabilities as a South American native have taken her to countries like Mexico and Colombia for reporting and production opportunities.
Her personal experiences fighting breast cancer in her own family, prompted her to be the first woman to do a mammogram on live television for Good Day Colorado on FOX31 in Denver. As someone who has lost a sister to the disease, she decided to reveal her results live, good or bad, with hopes of inspiring women everywhere to take the fear out of preventive testing.
Joana has called Colorado “home” for the last 15 years. As a busy mother of a 15-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter, she finds that keeping the family active lends to great family time. She has trained her son for multiple kids’ triathlons and teaches her children to read nutrition labels. Getting kids to love fitness is one of her main goals as a fitness professional and mother and former member of the Governor’s Council for Physical Fitness in Colorado.
Her background as a ballet dancer in the Ballet West Academy and NBA cheerleader play a vital role in the way she approaches all fitness tasks.
