Man found in Cherry Creek dies from injuries; case investigated as homicide

DENVER -- A man who was assaulted and later found in Cherry Creek died from his injuries on Tuesday night, the Denver Police Department said.

The man, 44-year-old Juan Mendez-Lopez, suffered blunt force injuries. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.

Mendez-Lopez was found in the creek near Cherry Creek Drive North and South Monroe Street on Sunday morning.

Investigators said they did not have any suspect information in the case.
